Facial Soap 101

One of the essential beauty regimens is washing our face; soap is vital to maintaining the skin to stay clean, healthy, and fresh. Although as important as soap in our skincare routine, as you know, many kinds of soap are being produced and advertised. Unfortunately, most of us are no clue as to what cleanser works best for our skin type, and sometimes we can get lost in so many wide varieties of products in the market to choose from the beauty department aisle.

I have a fantastic dermatologist. She explained how important it is to understand our type of skin cleanser and use the proper soap that works best for our skin.

Facial soap can help us tremendously in keeping our skin healthy and moisturized. And yet, If you use the wrong type of cleanser, it will lead to unhealthy skin resulting in dryness and irritation, so Let's learn the essential varieties of soap, and we can choose the right type of cleanser for us:

1. Gel Wash

This type of soap works best for OILY SKIN. First, look for a cleanser with salicylic acid; remember, oily skin does not mean moisturized skin. People with oily or acne-prone skin often try hard to eliminate the access oil by over cleanses or using a harsh chemical product, making their skin more vulnerable and causing the epidermis to overcompensate for dryness by producing more oil. So here is the solution, try to moisturize your skin just enough by using gentle ingredients that won't hurt and over-dry your skin.

My product recommendation:

2. Facial Scrub

Best for ALL SKIN TYPE, it exfoliates particles, slogging away dirt, blackheads, and flakiness from your skin, and helps clean skin and eliminate impurities. Look for natural exfoliants, like oatmeal and sugar, or ones that easily dissolve. Also, something like Jojoba Easter, coconut oil, and Shea butter are great products to add to your facial scrub formula. Although some products state that it is suitable for everyday uses, this could lead to more problems, such as breaking out and skin rashes for sensitive skin. And also, by over-scrubbing, you could remove the protective barrier that the skin has, so it is best to do it once or two times a week.

Products recommendation:

1. Lancome exfoliating Rose Scrub

2. Fresh Sugar Polish

3. Foam Wash

It is best for ALL SKIN TYPE and has a rich lather that gently cleanses and refreshes skin without irritating it. Although this Foam Wash is not as strong as other kinds of soap and is not the best type for removing waterproof makeup because it contains more water and fewer ingredients in the formula.

Products recommendation:

4. Cream cleanser

This type of cleanser is best for NORMAL TO DRY SKIN type. The Cream cleanser is riches formula with a high level of oil, butter, emollient, and other oil products that aim to moisturize your face while it's clean. his type of cleanser will not over dry your skin. For an oily skin type, look for products that contain Stearic acid, but if you have a normal skin type, stay out of these ingredients because they could irritate or over-dry your skin.

Coconut oil or flower oil can tremendously help moisturize dry skin. However, Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide, and Glycerin are the best for cleanses, hydrating, and helping restore the protective skin barrier.

Products recommendation:

5. Cleansing oil

Best for ALL SKIN TYPE, it cleans your skin without over-drying and moisturizes while gently lifting waterproof makeup, leaves it soft and silky, and gives the skin a dewy effect. The downside is Mineral oil-based can easily clog pores if not cleaned thoroughly. Instead, look for ingredients like Argan Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Olive Oil.

Products recommendation:

6. Face Wipes

These wipes are all for ALL SKIN TYPE. It is strong enough to remove excess oil, dirt, debris, and waterproof makeup, leaving the skin smooth and fresh. t is very convenient. Easy to take this everywhere you go and put it in your purse or bedside table, so it's easily within reach and cleans your face when needed. But, it shouldn't be your primary cleanser since the wipes' surface won't cleanse pores; it will leave your pores to clog if you use this as your only face cleaner. Or this should be an alternative cleanser; look for fragrance and alcohol-free. And if you want to add moisturizer, try to add your favorite facial oil, such as a few drops of Argan Oil for the normal skin type, Marula Oil for dry skin, and Maracuja Oil for the oily skin type.

Products recommended:

7. Micellar Cleansing Water

What is Micellar Water? This cleaning skincare has become popular recently and works best on sensitive skin. This cleansing water is suitable for any skin type—the formula is made of micelles and tiny round balls of oil molecules floating on the water. Micellar water is a skincare product that cleanses your skin without rinsing. One of the most convenient facial cleansers is easy for you to carry around everywhere you go, especially to places that hard to find water. Strong enough to remove oil, dirt, and waterproof makeup without drying your skin. Unlike a micellar toner, water does not contain Alcohol, is gentle enough for sensitive skin, and is clean around the eyes area. And the best part, you can use this as your primary skin cleaner product.

How to use it: soak a cotton ball with this product, sweep it across your whole face, and leave it dry. No rinse needs it.

My recommendation:

Thank you so much for reading. Did you use a suitable soap for your face?

Much Love,

Joice
