Almond Milk Tea Recipe

 Pacific Northwest has been sitting in the lowest temperatures for this Winter season. Some parts of the city have covered by snow. We got our luck, snow only stay for a day and melt away, but it's incredibly cold outside! If I could snap my fingers for the warmer weather, that would be nice. Don't you think?
 
When the weather gets chilly, there's nothing more comforting than curling up under a blanket with a warm drink watching your favorite movie with your beloved one.
 
Whether you need to warm your bones or you are treating a cold, this delightful drink is the perfect thing to take the cold out of your frozen bone and make you warm from head to toe.
 
So when it comes to the way to warm up my body, I only have one thing in mind, Warm drinks. This Almond tea with baked puff pastry has been delightful and lifesaver, especially during this harsh wintertime. This hot drink is sweet and tasty and sure to be your new favorite to warm up your body and soul. 
 
I learn about this tea from one of my favorite Chinese restaurant in California, but since we moved here in PNW, I haven't found any Chinese restaurant that served this tea. So, for now, I had learned how to prepare this myself. 

It's quite easy to make this almond tea with baked puff pastry, with store-bought ingredients such as puff pastry sheets, almond powder, and canned ginkgo nu you are on your way to the warm and comforting place. And besides, this one tea looks very fancy to serve it to your guest or private party enjoying this cold winter season.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

 

 

Or you can can alternate the ingredient with

 

  • Lipton yellow label tea

  • Half cup of Sweet almond milk

  • Half cup of water

  • 1/4 vanilla extract

  • Ginkgo nuts, canned or the fresh one (You can find this in a lot of Asian Market)

  • 1 teaspoon honey, add if you want sweeter

  • Pinch of Cinnamon

  • One puff pastry sheets, thawed and cut square 4.5 inches x 4.5 inches

  • Note: Another way to get the almond powder and canned ginkgo nuts are to go to Asian supermarkets. 

 

Direction:

 

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F

  2. Bring water and milk to boil and add almond powder, ginkgo nuts, honey and the rest of the ingredients. Stir well and put the tea and set aside.

  3. Pour the mixed tea to a cup and top the cup with the puff pastry squares. Stretch the puff pastry square to cover the top of the cup.

  4. Bake to 13-15 minutes or until the pastry turns golden brown. And serve hot

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How to eat it?

You can dip the crispy and flaky puff pastry on the warm tea before you eat it, or you can sipping the tea and eat the bread separately. Either way, they are delicious.
