One of the essential beauty regimens is washing our face, and soap is vital to maintaining the skin to stay clean, healthy, and fresh. Although as important as soap on our skincare routine, as you know, there are many kinds of soap being produced and advertised. Most of us don't understand what cleanser that works best for our skin type, and sometimes we can get lost in so many wide varieties of products in the market to choose from.
I have a fantastic dermatologist. She explained how important it is to understand our skin type and use the proper facial cleanser that works best for our skin.
Facial soap can help us tremendously in keeping our skin healthy and moisturized. Still, if you use the wrong type of cleanser, it will lead to unhealthy skin resulting in dryness and irritation, so Let's learn the primary varieties of soap, and we can choose the right type of cleanser for us:
1. Gel Wash
This type of soap works best for OILY SKIN. Look for a cleanser that has salicylic acid; remember, oily skin does not mean moisturized skin. People with oily or acne-prone skin often tried hard to eliminate the access oil by over cleanses or using a harsh chemical product, making their skin more vulnerable, causing the epidermis to overcompensate dryness by producing more oil. Here the solution, try to moisturize your skin just enough by using gentle ingredients that won't hurt and over-dry your skin.
My product recommendation:
1. Neutrogena Acne Proofing Salicylic Acid
2. Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel
3. Clinique Wash-Away Gel Cleanser
2. Facial Scrub
Best for ALL SKIN TYPE, It exfoliating particles slough away dirt, blackheads, and flakiness from your skin also help in cleansing skin and eliminate impurities. Look for natural exfoliants, like oatmeal and sugar, or ones that easily dissolve. Something like Jojoba Easter, coconut oil, and Shea butter are great products to add to your facial scrub formula. Although some products stated that it is suitable for everyday uses but, for sensitive skin, this could lead to more problems such as breaking out and skin rashes. And also, by over scrub, you could remove the protective barrier that skin has, so it is best to do it once or two times a week.
Products recommendation:
1. Lancome Exfoliating Rose Scrub
2. Fresh Sugar Polish
3. Baxter of California Facial Scrub
3. Foam Wash
It is best for ALL SKIN TYPE, has a rich lather that gently cleanses and refreshes skin without irritating. Although this Foam Wash is not as strong as other kinds of soap and not the best type for removing waterproof makeup is because it contains more water and fewer ingredients in the formula.
Products recommendation:
1. Kiehl's Deep Cleansing Foam
2. Olay Total Effect Revitalizing Foam Cleanser
4. Clinique Rinse=Off Foam Cleanser
4. Cream Cleanser
This type of cleanser is best for NORMAL TO DRY SKIN type. The Cream Cleanser is a riches formula with a high level of oil, butter, emollient, and other oil products that aim to moisturize your face while it's clean. This type of cleanser will not over dry your skin. For Dry skin, look for products contains Stearic acid but, if you have normal skin type, stay out of these ingredients because it could be irritated or over-dry your skin.
Coconut oil or flower oil can tremendously help moisturize dry skin. While Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide, and Glycerin these three ingredients are the best for cleanses, hydrate, and help restore the protective skin barrier.
Products recommendation:
1. Olay Total Effects Nourishing Cream Cleanser
2. Aveda Botanical Kinetics Purifying Cream Cleanser
3. CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
5. Cleansing Oil
Best for ALL SKIN TYPE, it cleans your skin without over-drying and moisturizes while gently lifts waterproof makeup, leaves soft, silky, and gives the skin the dewy effect. The downside is Mineral oil-based can easily clog pores if not clean thoroughly. Look for an ingredient like Argan Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Olive Oil.
Products recommendation:
1. Simple Sensitive Skin Cleansing Oil
2. Origins Modern Friction Cleansing Oil
3. Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil
6. Face Wipes
These wipes are all for ALL SKIN TYPE. It is strong enough to remove excess oil, dirt, debris, and waterproof makeup while leaving the skin smooth and fresh. It is very convenient, easy to take this everywhere you go, put in in your purse, bedside table, so it's easily within reach and clean your face when you need it. But it shouldn't be your primary cleanser since the wipes' surface won't cleanse pores; it will leave your pores to clog if you use this as your only face cleaner. So this should be an alternative cleanser; look for fragrance and alcohol-free. And if you want to add moisturizer, try to add your favorite facial oil, such as a few drops of Argan Oil for the normal skin type, Marula Oil for dry skin, Maracuja Oil for oily skin type.
Products recommended:
1. Olay Daily Facial Hydrating Cleansing Cloth
2. Simple For Sensitive Skin Face Cleansing Wipes
3. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
7. Micellar Cleansing Water
What is Micellar Water? This cleaning skincare has become popular recently and works best on sensitive skin. This cleansing water is suitable for any skin type—the formula made of micelles, tiny round balls of oil molecules floating on the water. Micellar water is a skincare product that cleanses your skin without the need for rinsing. One of the most convenient facial cleansers is easy for you to carry around everywhere you go, especially to the place that hard to find water. Strong enough to remove oil, dirt, and waterproof makeup without drying your skin. Unlike a micellar toner, water does not contain Alcohol, gentle enough for sensitive skin, and clean around the eyes area. And the best part, you can use this as your primary skin cleaner product.
How to use it: soak a cotton ball with this product, sweep it across your whole face, and leave it dry. No-rinse needs it.
My recommendation:
1. DIOR Hydra Life Cleansing Micellar Water
2. Lancome Bi-Facil Bi-Phased Micellar Water
3. Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water
4. L'Oriel Paris Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser
